About Rohn Kurland
Passion, Vision, and Experience for the Long Haul
Rohn Kurland was created in 2022 to be a human-centric firm with a focus on preventive legal care. We are deeply committed to achieving the best possible result for our clients.
Being investigated or prosecuted by the government is a harrowing, terrifying, life-defining event. Whether you run a multi-billion dollar company or are a director, executive, or professional at one; whether you are a sole practitioner or work for a government agency yourself; we will work to limit the real, negative, human impact of government investigations into your life and livelihood.
Using our collective experience of over 80 years in white-collar prosecution and defense, government investigations and complex litigation, we focus on identifying risks and addressing them before the government does. We guide our clients through the process of government inquiry, no matter the phase of that inquiry.
The first line of defense, and the founding principle for which Rohn Kurland was created, is to avoid investigation altogether. As in health care, preventive legal care is the most valuable and effective way to limit the potential negative impact of a government inquiry. Jim Rohn and Amy Kurland have both spent their careers developing the skills and experience to perfect this practice of preventive legal care.
We inoculate corporations and state and local governments against criminal and civil liability, inquiries, and potential conflicts with regulatory schemes. We develop compliance programs and best practices, handle internal investigations, corporate counseling, ethics initiatives, and reputational risk management.
If an inquiry is unavoidable, we negotiate with government regulatory agencies to establish remedial measures. If a government investigation is imminent, our goal is to prevent charges altogether by leveraging our prosecutorial and investigative experience, which gives our firm critical insights into, and the ability to anticipate, the government’s strategic decision-making process.
For white-collar cases in which a government investigation has already begun, we have the experience and determination to provide an unmatched zealous defense. As prosecutors and defense counsel, we have tried close to 100 federal criminal cases, settled countless more before trial, and argued numerous appeals. We understand the government’s goals, strategies, and methods, and deeply care about their impact on the lives of our clients, so we leverage every tool at our disposal to secure the best possible outcome for our clients.
